EXECUTIVE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The MVCC seeks an Executive and Community Development Director to explore how our organization can meaningfully contribute to developing economic opportunity for our area residents outside of the restoration economy.
The MVCC Executive and Community Development Director will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Explore and develop programs to support local entrepreneurship and microeconomy opportunities – focus on visual arts, food production/farming, community classes, value-added products, needed services, and hospitality.
- Research and apply for funding – for rural community economic development, and to continue to fund the Executive Director position.
- Continue the annual NEST List update – work with current NEST master coordinator to provide support and drive the project as needed.
- Explore additional opportunities for collaboration with emergency and social support services – such as the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department and the Mattole Valley Resource Center, to provide additional community resilience support services, such as a downtown disaster-proof wi-fi network and or emergency response plan.
- Pursue and secure funding to disaster-proof our utilities – for our facility, such as for a solar-powered battery backup system and heat-pump system.
- Oversee current projects – this includes oversight and support of contractors engaged in the porch project
- Work directly with the MVCC board – this includes attending board meetings, reporting progress and challenges to the BOD, working with BOD to build agendas.
- Trees Foundation liaison – Interface with the Trees Foundation (monthly meeting) for grant coordination
- Establish 1 year goals for EDD accomplishment in collaboration with the BOD

- Big picture thinking as far as moving the position into the future
